This music came from a journey along the Savannah Way, across the top of Australia from Cairns to Broome in 2018. We explored this vast and mesmerising part of our country for six weeks, making music as we went. The music attempts to capture some of the landscape, isolation, history, beauty and peacefulness of the places we visited, along with musical ideas we brought with us which to be coloured by the trip. We hope that as you listen, you too will travel the Savannah Way.

From Here or Somewhere Else asks questions of identity and belonging, what connects and holds us, what it means to put down roots, and the responsibilities we take on if we do. We don’t own this country, we are custodians. We should nurture, share and celebrate it, which is why we made this album.
