Sahayog, or ‘collaboration’ in Hindi, draws from Sandy Evan's concept of 'John McLaughlin meets Shakti' and from her interest in Indian music. Sandy and Holly each wrote a melody for the project, and discovered that the melodies fitted together as though planned! We arranged them to explore the rhythmic intricacies of the melodic material and also to let Sandy loose on an epic sax solo, which was always part of our plan for the piece.
