about

‘Triangles’ is a very musical sculpture. A musical triad, or chord, consists of 3 notes, like the corners of a triangle. The pitches in a harmonic series (the many hidden notes that make up a fundamental ‘note’ that we can hear) get closer together as they get higher, much the same as the rotating, shrinking triangles in the sculpture. A chord sequence usually moves in cycles, pairs of chords often connected by a note that remains from one chord to the next, in the same way that the point of one triangle is also a point for another triangle. Interlocking, cycling, patterned, layered. Much like a musical dot-to-dot puzzle, the possibilities are endless… is there a correct solution? What picture will emerge?
