West of West

from TSC II by The String Contingent

/

about

West of West was inspired by our visit to Garanin, a small fishing village on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. On a free day from touring we stayed the night in a fisherman’s stone hut. We walked the following day along the turf covered cliff tops overlooking a pebble beach to the ocean, wild and bleak. For me, heading west implies of exploration into the unknown. West of West is such an exploration, and tries to capture the isolated,
brooding, stark beauty of the place.
