about

Fragment from the Academy of Very Ancient Music with Genevieve Lacey began as a 12-note lament from Graham. It traverses three recorders, multiple musical landscapes and contrasts birdsong, baroque and primordial ooze. Genevieve describes the piece as 'elegiac memories filtered through time, joyful as well as wistful, sometimes longing, always inhabiting the beautiful, fey landscapes that our instruments conjured up'. The title references a Leunig cartoon celebrating the very ancient music of nature.
